Jitka has been interested in pottery for over 15 years, but her art expression just took off when she moved to Cape Breton. Inspired by the environment and the desire to see her practical art at work in "good homes", Jitka crafts unique pieces of functional pottery - art that you can use every day.
Most of the production takes place in the serene wintry months in her studio overlooking ponds, an orchard, and the ocean. The response of the public to her art has been overwhelming. But far from yielding to the temptation of repetitive production of "selling" pieces, our resolute artist sticks to the pleasure of producing original artwork as changing as the weather in Cape Breton! Jitka favours warm. Earthy tones but sometimes surprises us with rich and deep blues and reds. Her blueberry pieces, so appreciated by friends and customers, reflect her passion for dedicated work and uncompromising results. True to its functional nature, all stoneware is safe for food and works well in the oven and in the microwave.
Jitka also enjoys producing custom pieces or sets. You are invited to come in to discuss and plan your preferences for that unique gift to yourself or for a very special person.
